Ptosis repair raises an upper eyelid whose margin sits too low, either by reattaching and advancing the levator tendon through a skin incision or by shortening Müller's muscle from inside the lid (PMID 1156224). It is often missed on exam because the forehead muscle lifts the lid; one study found it in 57.6% of patients seen for facial rejuvenation (PMID 32356151).
