Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. An incision along the natural lid fold; excess fat and tissue are sculpted, excess skin trimmed and the incision closed with fine sutures. Some patients have it in the in-office suite under local anesthesia with a relaxing medication in less than an hour; others choose the accredited facility under monitored sedation. General anesthesia is not required (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Most patients are candidates for a transconjunctival incision inside the lower lid, which the page states lowers the risk of postoperative lid drooping and rounding. For skin tightening, Dr. Brackup makes a fine incision under the lashes or uses a laser. Lower lids take about 1 hour under monitored sedation; upper and lower together take 1 to 1.5 hours (source).
- Nonsurgical eyelid options on both pages: hyaluronic acid or fat fillers, Botox or Dysport, and laser resurfacing.
- Brow lift. Endoscopic brow lift through 3 to 5 small incisions behind the hairline, with no hair shaved, under monitored sedation; about 1 hour (source).
Galleries: upper eyelid surgery (44 pictures), lower eyelid surgery (38) and brow lift (20) (upper, lower, brow lift). The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or canthoplasty.
Other procedures
The procedures page lists facelift, mini-lift (including S-lift), neck lift, fat transfer, hair transplant surgery, deep skin rejuvenation, Morpheus8, fractional skin resurfacing, IPL, scar revision, neurotoxins, chemical peels and microneedling (procedures).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no price for eyelid surgery or brow lift and does not state an insurance or Medicare policy. The FAQ states a payment plan is offered through CareCredit (faq).
Recovery
- Upper eyelid surgery: swelling and discoloration for the first few days; head elevated; a vitamin and supplement regimen is given to reduce bruising; no strenuous activity for the first 2 weeks (source).
- Lower eyelid surgery: cold compresses after surgery; a few days before normal activities; head elevated for the first couple of weeks; no exercise until cleared (source).
- Sun protection for the eyes during the first few weeks.
- Brow lift: sutures out after one week; hair washing after 48 hours; normal routine in a week or ten days; final result within 3 months (source).
