Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid surgery. Upper eyelid and brow surgery remove excess skin and fat; drooping or ptosis is addressed during the same procedure. Dr. McInnes makes a small incision in the natural fold of the eyelid. Surgery is done in the office or at a surgery center with IV sedation and local anesthetic, as an outpatient procedure (source).
- The page distinguishes cosmetic dermatochalasis from functional dermatochalasis that obstructs the upper field of vision or turns lashes in or out.
- Brow lift. Brow ptosis repair through an incision in the eyebrow, behind the hairline or in the eyelid crease (source).
- Midface lift. Often combined with lower eyelid surgery; the lower eyelid incision is used to reach the midface, with incisions usually hidden inside the eyelid (source).
- Ectropion and entropion. Repaired through a small incision in the corner of the eye to tighten and reposition the eyelid (ectropion, entropion).
The practice's page shows captioned cases of upper, lower, and combined upper and lower blepharoplasty, blepharoplasty with brow lift, brow lift, eyelid retraction repair and eyelid tumor reconstruction (source). The site has no page for double eyelid surgery or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
- Tear duct surgery creating a new drainage opening into the nose, with a silicone tube left for three months (source).
- Orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease through incisions inside the lower eyelid and at the outer corner of the eye (source).
- Orbital fracture repair, eyelid tumor reconstruction, facial nerve palsy treatment, eye removal, plus FaceTite, AccuTite, EmbraceRF and Morpheus8 facial contouring and resurfacing, Botox and Restylane.
Insurance and cost
- "Most insurances will cover functional correction of dermatochalasis" (source).
- The practice pre-authorizes procedures with the patient's insurance company when surgery is chosen.
- Brow ptosis repair may be covered by insurance if vision is significantly impaired (source).
- The site publishes no prices.
Recovery
- Same-day discharge home after outpatient surgery.
- Back to relatively normal activities: within about a week.
- Sutures out: in the office at about one week; makeup and contacts can then be resumed.
