Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The practice page describes upper blepharoplasty through an incision in the natural upper eyelid crease, trimming skin and removing small fat pockets. For the lower lid, the practice "frequently" performs transconjunctival blepharoplasty with the incision inside the lower eyelid to redistribute or remove fat pads; for loose skin, an incision is made just below the lower lash line (source).
- Anesthesia is local with oral or IV sedation, or general anesthesia for quad blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery combined with a facelift. Surgery takes place in the practice's accredited outpatient surgical center. Self-dissolving sutures are used.
- Brow lift. Incisions along the hairline, underlying tissue reshaped, 1 to 2 hours of surgery under general anesthesia (source).
- Complementary procedures listed with eyelid surgery: brow lift, mini or full facelift, Sciton laser resurfacing, Botox and dermal fillers.
The practice blepharoplasty gallery credits each case to Dr. Craig or Dr. Boschert. The site has no gallery of Dr. Hulsey's eyelid cases.
Other procedures
Dr. Hulsey's page lists surgery of the face, breast and body, breast reconstruction, neurotoxin and dermal filler injections, and laser resurfacing (source). The practice also runs R Medical Spa.
Insurance and cost
- "If your vision is obscured, eyelid surgery can be performed for medical reasons and may be covered by your health insurance." Purely cosmetic surgery is typically not covered (source).
- Financing through Cherry, Care Credit and Patient Fi (source).
- The site publishes no eyelid surgery prices.
Recovery
- First 24 to 48 hours: mild swelling and bruising, cold compresses, head elevated.
- Day 3: swelling usually peaks, then subsides.
- Day 7: post-op check; non-dissolving sutures removed if used.
- Days 10 to 14: return to work and social events.
- Weeks 3 to 4: strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and contact lenses resume.
- Complete results usually visible at four to six weeks. Upper blepharoplasty results usually last five to 10 years.
