  • She has served North Shore patients for over a decade.
  • The site does not name her medical school.

Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty corrects drooping, heavy upper eyelid tissue and can reduce tissue obstructing the field of vision. Lower blepharoplasty corrects puffiness and bags. Many patients have both.
  • Each operation typically takes about an hour. Dr. Petropoulos removes excess skin and fat, and prolapsing eyelid fat is often repositioned to treat the hollowness that comes with aging.
  • Filler, BOTOX or laser skin resurfacing may be added for hollows or wrinkles at the corners of the eyes.
  • The page notes that upper blepharoplasty does not raise a drooping brow; a brow lift may be needed when the space between lashes and brows has decreased.
  • Listed risks include swelling, bleeding, dry eyes, asymmetry, infection, poor incision healing and inability to close the eyes fully.
  • Brow lift. Dr. Petropoulos prefers the endoscopic or "minimal incision" brow lift over the coronal technique. It is outpatient, using a small camera through half-inch incisions hidden behind the hairline. Sutures come out after about one week, when patients may return to work; swelling mostly subsides within two weeks (brow lift).

Galleries:

  • Eyelid lift: cases include a 69-year-old woman photographed one week after upper blepharoplasty, and a patient who had upper blepharoplasty with skin treatment for fine lines, pores and brown spots; the page names Dr. Petropoulos as the surgeon (eyelid lift gallery).
  • Brow lift (brow lift gallery).

Other procedures

The gallery index lists facelift, rhinoplasty, FaceTite and NeckTite, Silhouette InstaLift, SmartGraft and PRP hair restoration, injectables and many laser and energy-based skin treatments; the site also lists snoring and sleep apnea treatment and IV therapy (source).

Insurance and cost

  • The site makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery and publishes no prices.
  • The fees page states the practice works with financing companies (fees and financing).

Recovery

  • Cold compresses and sleeping with the head elevated for the first few days help prevent swelling and bruising.
  • Stitches are removed 7 days after surgery, when patients can return to routine activities, including work.
  • Results appear as swelling and bruising subside over a few weeks; scars continue to fade over 12 to 18 months.
