Eyelid surgery work
Source for this section: source
- Upper blepharoplasty. Incisions follow the natural lines of the eyelids. Excess skin and fat are removed, and muscle when indicated. The page states upper blepharoplasty can remove drooping skin that obstructs vision.
- Lower blepharoplasty. Two methods are described. An incision inside the lower eyelid removes excess fat and leaves no visible scar. An incision along the eyelash margin removes excess skin and fat.
- Combined surgery. When upper and lower lids are done together, he starts with the upper lids. The combined operation takes about one to two hours.
- Anesthesia is local with oral sedation or general anesthesia. He performs all surgeries at one of his two surgical centers in Henderson or Las Vegas.
- The consultation covers goals, preparation and recovery instructions, and his technique. The page links a list of eleven questions to ask.
- Eyelid surgery does not remove crow's feet or fully remove dark circles. It can be combined with facelift, injectables and laser skin resurfacing.
- The gallery shows two eyelid surgery and brow lift before-and-after cases (eyelid-surgery-brow-lift gallery).
Other procedures
The brow lift page describes a coronal brow lift through a headphone-pattern incision behind the hairline, and an endoscopic brow lift through three to five short scalp incisions. In the endoscopic method, the brows are secured with sutures or temporary fixation screws (source). After brow lift, swelling and bruising around the eyes typically resolve in under two weeks, and strenuous activity is avoided for about three weeks. The practice also offers facelift, rhinoplasty, breast and body surgery, and a medical spa (source).
Insurance and cost
The eyelid page states eyelid surgery "is rarely covered by health insurance" and advises patients to contact their insurer or the practice (source). The site publishes no prices. The brow lift page states a cost estimate is given at consultation and scheduling requires a non-refundable deposit (source).
Recovery
- Cold compresses and lubricating ointment may be applied, and the eyes may be loosely covered with gauze.
- Expect some bruising, swelling and irritation at first.
- Most patients manage discomfort with over-the-counter medication; the page calls blepharoplasty one of the least painful procedures plastic surgeons perform.
- Follow-up visits monitor healing.
