Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Removes "excess skin, muscle, and possibly fat along your upper eyelid" (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Incision below the lash line or inside the lower lid to remove excess skin and fat; fat transfer may be used instead of removal (same page). Laser resurfacing of lower lid skin is combined with some lower eyelid procedures (same page).
- Brow lift. Endoscopic technique using "sophisticated cameras and scopes" and "very small incisions in the scalp," avoiding the "long ear-to-ear scars that followed traditional brow lift procedures" (browlift).
The eyelid surgery page does not describe ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or canthoplasty.
Insurance and cost
No insurance or price information is published on the eyelid surgery or brow lift pages; the brow lift page directs patients to call (925) 283-4012 or request a consultation (browlift).
Recovery
- Swelling. Blepharoplasty: ice compresses and head elevation for the first 48-72 hours (source).
- Back to work. Blepharoplasty: patients return to work in 8 to 10 days (same page).
- Exercise. Blepharoplasty: regular activities and exercise resume at 3 weeks (same page).
- Sutures out. Brow lift: surgical staples removed at 2.5 weeks (browlift).
- Final result. Brow lift: forehead numbness typically resolves 3 to 6 months after surgery; results last about 5 to 10 years (same page).
