Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Dr. Dunkley makes an incision in the natural fold of the upper eyelid and removes loose skin and excess fat. Fine stitches are typically removed at a follow-up visit the next week.
  • Lower blepharoplasty. The incision is placed just below the lash line, or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival approach). The page states the transconjunctival technique avoids visible skin scars and suits patients who need only fat removal.
  • Surgery is done with IV sedation and numbing injections in the eyelids, and takes 45 minutes to two hours depending on whether one or both lids are treated.
  • The page states Dr. Dunkley "has performed hundreds of blepharoplasties."
  • Brow lift. Three methods are described: a direct brow lift with an incision above the eyebrow, an endoscopic lift through incisions behind the hairline, and a smaller lift through a blepharoplasty incision. Dr. Dunkley prefers incisions behind the hairline and endoscopic methods when possible. Surgery takes one to two hours (source).

The practice gallery has no eyelid or brow lift category; its face section shows croton oil peel, ear repair, otoplasty and rhinoplasty (source).

Other procedures

Facelift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, chin implant, breast augmentation and lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, Brazilian butt lift, mommy makeover and med spa treatments. The practice also includes Dr. Derick Fenton, a cosmetic gynecologic surgeon (source).

Insurance and cost

  • "Cosmetic surgery is generally considered elective surgery and is not covered by insurance." The FAQ names eyelids sagging enough to impact vision as an exception where insurance could cover blepharoplasty or part of it (faqs).
  • Financing options are listed (financing). The site publishes no eyelid prices.

Recovery

  • Bruising, swelling and watering of the eyes right after surgery; cold compress on the day of surgery.
