Training and board certification

  • The site describes him as a "board certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery." It does not name the certifying board.

Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper and lower blepharoplasty are performed as outpatient procedures under local anesthesia and sedation at the group's accredited surgical facilities.
  • Upper eyelids. The incision begins in the natural crease at the inside corner and extends slightly past the outside corner into the laugh lines; excess skin and fatty tissue are removed.
  • Lower eyelids. The incision is placed just below the lower lashes, and excess skin, muscle and fat are removed. Fat beneath the eye can be redistributed to reduce puffiness, and the underlying muscle may be tightened.
  • Transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty. The incision is inside the eyelid, with no visible scar.
  • Brow lift. The group most often performs an endoscopic brow lift, with small incisions in the hairline; forehead tissues are released and repositioned, and frown muscles may be softened (source).

Gallery: the eyelid gallery holds 28 cases from several surgeons. Three name Dr. Kortesis as surgeon: case 2 (age 56), case 3 (age 58) and case 5 (age 53). The one brow lift case names a different surgeon.

Other procedures

The group site lists facelift, neck lift, chin augmentation, otoplasty, lip lift and lip augmentation, dimple surgery, breast and body surgery, and med spa face treatments (source).

Insurance and cost

The eyelid and brow lift pages publish no prices and make no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage.

Recovery

  • Recovery from upper, lower or combined blepharoplasty is one to two weeks.
  • The eyes may tear and feel dry, with some bruising and swelling; eye drops are provided.
  • Head elevation for the first few days keeps swelling down; strenuous activity is avoided for a few weeks.
  • For most patients, results last five to nine years.
  • Brow lift: swelling, tightness or temporary numbness in the forehead, improving within one to two weeks (source).
