Eyelid surgery work

  • Blepharoplasty. The eyelid page describes removing excess fat and skin and repositioning muscle and tissue on the upper lids, and removing puffiness and bags from the lower lids (source).
  • Upper lid incisions sit within the natural folds of the eyelid. Lower lid incisions are made inside the lid in most cases, and sometimes outside in natural skin creases.
  • Surgery is done under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia and takes one to two hours. A resurfacing procedure can be added during surgery.
  • The page lists vision problems from upper lid drooping, puffiness of both lids, and lower lid sagging that shows the white of the eye below the iris among the concerns treated.
  • Brow lift. An outpatient procedure under anesthesia with incisions placed in the hairline; forehead tissue and muscle are lifted toward the hairline and closed with sutures or staples (browlifts).
  • Gallery. The page "Before/Afters Dr. Bradley Chastant" shows a lower blepharoplasty case, and combined cases with endoscopic brow lift with tines, upper and transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty and CO2 resurfacing (source).

Other procedures

The facial plastic surgery center also offers facelift, rhinoplasty, facial implants, cosmetic ear surgery, scar revision, fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing and injectables. The wider practice covers ear, nose and throat care, allergy, hearing and skin care (source). The bio also describes his head and neck cancer work and sinus surgery.

Insurance and cost

The site publishes no prices and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery.

Recovery

  • Someone should drive the patient home and stay for a day or two (source).
  • Cool compresses and head elevation help bruising and swelling, which subside within a few weeks.
  • Most patients return to normal activities within 10 days to two weeks.
  • After a brow lift, most patients return to regular activities after at least 10 days (browlifts).
