Eyelid surgery work
- Setting. Performed at an accredited surgical facility under general or local anesthesia, in one to two hours.
- Upper blepharoplasty. The incision sits in the natural crease, the supratarsal fold. Excess skin is removed and, where appropriate, fat and muscle are addressed. Fine sutures come out after one week. When excess skin limits peripheral vision, the page describes the procedure as partly functional.
- Lower blepharoplasty. When skin is the main concern, the incision runs just below the lower lash line. When puffiness from displaced fat is the main concern, a transconjunctival incision inside the lid is used and the fat is repositioned.
- Combined surgery. Upper and lower lids can be treated in one session, and blepharoplasty can be combined with a facelift or brow lift.
- Brow lift. He uses a direct brow lift, with an incision just above the brow, for heavier brows, and a lateral brow lift for the outer brow, under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation (source).
- Gallery. The eyelid gallery shows six before-and-after cases (source).
Other procedures
The site offers rhinoplasty and functional rhinoplasty, septoplasty, sinus and nasal airway surgery, facelift, neck lift, otoplasty, chin and cheek augmentation, skin cancer removal and reconstruction, injectables, Morpheus8, FaceTite and AccuTite, and ENT and allergy care.
Insurance and cost
- Functional blepharoplasty "may be covered by insurance, depending on the degree of obstruction," when upper lid skin blocks peripheral vision (source).
- Price: "blepharoplasty starts at $5,000"; the final cost depends on which lids are treated and any combined procedures.
- A $500 deposit secures a surgery date; the balance is due two weeks before surgery. Financing through Prosper and CareCredit and an in-office layaway plan.
- All follow-up visits are included at no extra cost.
Recovery
- Days 1 to 3: swelling and bruising peak; cold compresses and head elevation.
- Days 4 to 7: sutures removed; bruising begins to fade.
- Weeks 1 to 2: return to desk work, makeup and contact lenses.
- Weeks 2 to 4: bruising largely resolved.
- Weeks 4 to 6: eyelids close to the final result.
