Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. The page describes it as a surgical procedure for cosmetic and functional purposes that tightens the skin and muscles around the eyes and eyelid (source).
- The procedure is outpatient and typically takes about two hours when both upper and lower eyelids are treated. Anesthesia is usually local with oral sedation; IV sedation is also an option.
- Upper eyelids. The incision is placed along the natural eyelid crease. Through it the surgeon tightens muscle, removes excess skin and removes fat, then closes with stitches.
- Lower eyelids. The incision is placed on the inside of the lower eyelid or on the lid margin; excess skin and fat are removed and the incision is closed with stitches.
- The home page states that blepharoplasty can remove the interference drooping lids have on vision, in addition to changing appearance (alohavisionconsultants.com).
- The practice site has no eyelid before-and-after gallery.
Other procedures
The practice also treats cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, retina conditions, refractive errors and pterygium. His bio states he has performed thousands of cataract and laser procedures (source).
Insurance and cost
The site states nothing about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery and publishes no prices.
Recovery
- Swelling and bruising: present right after surgery, likely to increase over the next few days, then fade over the next few weeks.
- Final result: swelling can take months to subside completely.
