- Board certification as printed: "board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery with an additional board certification in hand surgery (CAQH)."
- Former Director of the Hand Surgery Fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
- Performs cosmetic, reconstructive and hand surgery procedures on patients of all ages.
Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). The page describes surgery for excess skin or fat deposits above or below the eye, on the upper lids, lower lids or both. Incisions are made in the creases of the upper eyelids and just below the lashes in the lower eyelids. Fat is removed or repositioned depending on the patient's goals (source).
- Eyelid surgery is often combined with brow lift and facelift. The ideal candidate is described as a healthy non-smoker.
- The consultation covers medical history, an eyelid exam, an assessment of excess skin and fat and their position, and photographs.
- Patients who use tobacco or marijuana must wait until 6 weeks after quitting. Patients fast after midnight before surgery and need a driver. Incisions are marked in the operating room and carry no dressings after surgery.
- Brow lift. The brow lift page lists four approaches (source):
- Endoscopic brow lift: small incisions and tiny anchors; removes no skin; suited to a drooping inner eyebrow.
- Lateral brow lift: excision of outer forehead skin at the hairline for outer brow hooding.
- Direct brow lift: skin removed just above the eyebrows, often in male patients with thick eyebrows.
- Full forehead hairline brow lift: skin excision across the whole hairline for more extensive heaviness, with a longer recovery.
The site's galleries cover breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, tummy tuck and gynecomastia. The site has no eyelid or brow lift gallery.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, neck lift, breast surgery and breast reconstruction, tummy tuck, liposuction, body lifts after weight loss, gender confirmation surgery, injectables and laser treatment. Hand surgery covers carpal tunnel, trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture, ganglion cysts and basal joint arthritis (source).
Insurance and cost
- "If your upper eyelids impair your vision, this procedure may be covered by insurance." Visual field tests are ordered to see whether a patient qualifies (source).
- Brow hooding that affects vision is sometimes covered by insurance; the lateral brow lift is named as one procedure that may be covered (source).
- The site publishes no prices. Patients receive a price quote at consultation, or after insurance review.
Recovery
- Patients go home with ice packs, antibiotic cream and eye drops.
- Swelling and bruising improve within a few weeks; vision may be blurry at first.
- Keeping the head elevated limits swelling.
- Scars and appearance continue to improve up to 6 months after surgery.
- Painful swelling, marked bruising, or new swelling on one side should be reported to the office right away.
