Eyelid surgery work
- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The page describes reducing excess muscle, fat and skin around the eyes to correct drooping upper eyelids or puffy lower eyelids. Surgery is done under local or general anesthesia (blepharoplasty).
- Upper eyelid: incisions follow the natural lines of the eyelids, generally concealed in the natural fold of the upper eyelid; excess skin and fatty tissue are removed.
- Lower eyelid: the incision is often concealed below the lower lashes; excess skin, muscle and fat are removed, and in some cases fat is redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges.
- Upper and lower eyelid surgery can be combined in a single procedure, and blepharoplasty is often done with a brow lift or facelift. Candidates are recommended to be over 35.
- Results: upper eyelid results can last 5 to 7 years or longer; lower eyelid surgery is often permanent.
- Brow lift. Done under general anesthesia using either the classic method or the endoscopic method, with incisions in the hairline. The endoscopic approach uses a few incisions and a pen-sized camera and suits younger patients needing minor adjustments (brow lift).
Galleries:
- Eyelid: more than 40 before-and-after cases, each listing the patient's age and procedure, including upper and lower blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty alone, and one case combined with a malar implant (eyelid gallery).
- Brow lift: before-and-after cases, including brow lift alone and direct brow lift combined with blepharoplasty (brow lift gallery).
Dr. Robbins is the only surgeon on the staff page. The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, cheek and chin implants, otoplasty and facial reconstruction; breast augmentation, lift, reduction, reconstruction and implant removal; body contouring including tummy tuck, liposuction, arm lift, thigh lift and lower body lift; and medspa treatments such as injectables, chemical peels and skin care (source). Surgery is performed at the Cosmetic Surgery Center of Nashville, an accredited on-site center at 503 Spruce Street (surgery center).
Insurance and cost
- "Most insurance plans do not cover plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures." Eyelid surgery cost depends on the extent of surgery and the number of treatments (blepharoplasty).
- The pricing page publishes no dollar figures. The office gives estimates by phone; combined procedures are discounted, with full price for the most expensive procedure. A consultation sets the exact price (pricing).
- Financing: CareCredit, Prosper Healthcare Lending and PatientFi (financing).
Recovery
- Weeks 1 to 2: the most swelling and bruising; patients rest and often take time off work.
- Weeks 2 to 4: swelling and bruising decrease and most regular activities resume; no heavy lifting or intense exercise.
- Full recovery and final results take several months.
- An ointment is usually used for 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.
