- Board certification as printed: "a board certified ophthalmologist." The site names no board.
- He was raised in Rapid City and graduated from Stevens High School.
Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. The site describes removing excess skin, muscle or fat through a small incision in the natural crease of the eyelid, for appearance and for droopy upper lids that block peripheral vision (blepharoplasty).
- Upper and lower eyelid surgery. Blepharoplasty is typically performed on the upper eyelids, and on the lower eyelids to reduce puffiness. For the lower lid, an incision is made just below the lower lashes and excess fat and skin are removed. Fat can be added or subtracted to improve look and function (source).
- The procedure is typically performed at an outpatient surgical center with IV medication for relaxation and pain control. Recovery at the center is usually an hour or two, and a follow-up visit is scheduled a day or two after surgery.
- Oculoplastic surgery. The site lists surgery to change the shape and appearance of the eyelids, eyebrows, tear ducts or the area near the eyes, for medical or cosmetic reasons, under local or general anesthesia (source).
- The practice site has no before-and-after gallery.
Other procedures
Dr. Huot offers no-stitch cataract surgery with premium lens implantation (source). The practice also lists glaucoma treatment, retinal surgery, dry eye treatment and comprehensive eye exams (yourvisioncare.net).
Insurance and cost
- Staff work directly with patients and insurers to submit claims; patients call the office to find out if their insurance provider is accepted (source).
- The practice accepts cash, check and major credit cards and can discuss financing before a procedure.
- The site publishes no prices and no eyelid-specific insurance or Medicare statement.
Recovery
- Swelling and bruising: blurry vision, dry or watery eyes, swelling, bruising or puffy eyelids subside within 14 days for most people; an ice pack for 10 minutes every hour helps (blepharoplasty).
- Exercise: avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and swimming for a week.
- Sutures: patients may return to the office to have stitches removed.
- Back to work: most return to social activities or work about two weeks after oculoplastic surgery; activities that raise blood pressure are avoided for three weeks (source).
