Eyelid surgery work
The practice's blepharoplasty page (source) describes, for its surgeons generally:
- Upper lid blepharoplasty. Removes excess upper eyelid skin; the page states the practice preserves upper eyelid volume and does not remove muscle or fat, sometimes adding fat or filler back to the upper lid.
- Lower lid blepharoplasty. Incision through the skin just below the lower lashes or through the inside of the eyelid (transconjunctival); the page states the transconjunctival approach, preferred by the practice's surgeons, lowers the rate of dry eye and lid rounding and leaves no visible incision. Fat repositioning addresses hollowing; a "skin pinch" removes loose skin when present.
- Outpatient procedure, typically performed at the practice's Midwest Surgery Center in Woodbury, taking one to three hours depending on complexity.
Brow/forehead lift is also offered, described as restoring a refreshed, lifted eyebrow position (source).
The before-and-after gallery for upper/lower eyelid surgery (gallery page) states it shows cases performed by Dr. Tolan along with Dr. Garrett Griffin, Dr. Sebastian Sciegienka and Dr. Anna Bakeman.
Other procedures
The practice also offers rhinoplasty, facelift, neck lift, facial fat grafting, facial implants, otoplasty, scar revision, septoplasty, cleft lip/palate surgery, laser skin resurfacing and injectables.
Insurance and cost
The eyelid lift FAQ states insurance may cover eyelid surgery if sagging skin obstructs vision, and recommends checking with the patient's insurance provider. No price figures are published; the page states cost depends on technique, procedure duration and anesthesia type, and directs patients to the practice's financing team.
Recovery, per the eyelid lift page: temporary bruising, swelling and/or light sensitivity are expected after the procedure; swelling and bruising typically resolve in one to two weeks.
