Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Incision placed in the upper lid crease, extending slightly beyond the outer corner of the eye, to remove loose skin; underlying fat is also removed to reduce fullness.
- Lower blepharoplasty. Removes fat causing under-eye bags; the fat-removal incision can be made on the inside of the eyelid (transconjunctival), and an incision just below the lashes removes excess skin.
- Typically 1 to 3 hours, outpatient, usually under general anesthesia; some cases performed in-office under local anesthesia.
- Can be combined with brow lift, facelift or liposuction.
- Upper eyelid lift before and after, 17 images (source).
- Lower eyelid surgery (under eyes) before and after, 17 images (source).

Recovery
- Patients typically return to normal activities within a few days.
- Bruising or swelling typically resolves in 10 to 14 days.
- Most patients resume exercising 3 to 4 weeks after surgery.
- Upper eyelid surgery results last at least 10 years; lower eyelid surgery lasts longer.
