Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Dr. Maas makes an incision in the natural crease of the upper lid and removes excess skin, and a small strip of muscle or fat when needed, closing with fine sutures (source).
  • Lower blepharoplasty. He typically uses a transconjunctival approach with the incision inside the eyelid, removing or repositioning fat pads. Skin tightening, when needed, is done by laser resurfacing or a small external excision.
  • Surgery takes about one hour under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, in the on-site surgical center in Pacific Heights; an overnight stay facility is available.
  • Brow lift (browplasty). The page describes direct, mid-forehead, coronal, pretrichial (trichophytic) and endoscopic brow lifts. For endoscopic fixation, the page states Dr. Maas prefers Bioglue over drilling the skull, and he has published on Bioglue. The pretrichial approach is also used for hairline lowering (source).
