Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. Removes excess or loose skin and fatty tissue that produce bags around the upper or lower lids. Incisions are placed in the fold of the upper eyelid and immediately below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid. Excess fat that produces bulges is contoured; incisions are closed with tiny sutures, and incisions inside the lower lid may not need sutures. A laser is sometimes used on lower eyelid skin to reduce fine lines and shrink excess skin (source).
- The page lists both cosmetic and functional benefits: removing upper lid skin can reduce interference with the field of view. Dr. Levens recommends a thorough eye exam before scheduling. Eyelid surgery is outpatient.
- Endoscopic brow lift. Three small incisions within the scalp hair and two in the temple hair; tissues are lifted to raise the brows and reduce wrinkling, and frown muscle activity can be reduced. The procedure is sometimes combined with eyelid surgery (source).
