- Board certification as printed: "Board Certified, American Board of Surgery" and "Board Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery."
- Fellow, American College of Surgeons.
- Societies listed: American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Plastic Surgery Research Council.
- At the University of South Florida he built and directed the residents' cosmetic surgery clinic.
- The bio states he returned to New York in 1997 and opened a private practice in Manhattan; the CV lists private practice from 1998. He founded the Aethos aesthetic practice.
Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid lift. The page describes removing excess or drooping upper eyelid skin ("hooding") and, if needed, fat in the inner corner and middle of the lid. The skin is marked to avoid removing too much, and incisions are closed with fine sutures. He performs upper blepharoplasty under local anesthesia, often with an oral relaxant such as Ativan; most patients still choose IV sedation (source).
- Lower eyelid lift. Lower lid bags are described as orbital fat. Fat can be removed or repositioned through a transconjunctival incision inside the lid, with no sutures and no visible scar. When there is excess lower lid skin, the incision is placed along the lash line and smile creases. The page states that removing too much lower lid skin can cause scleral show or ectropion, so he decides case by case whether any skin should be removed. Lower blepharoplasty is almost always done with IV sedation managed by an anesthesiologist and usually takes less than an hour.
- Canthoplasty. In some cases the lower lid support structure is tightened during lower blepharoplasty; the page calls this a canthoplasty.
- Brow lift. He prefers a Botox brow lift to surgery and states that brow lifts have been overperformed. Surgical options are the coronal lift, a modified hairline incision for high hairlines, and minimal incision or endoscopic techniques (source).
- Eyelid surgery can be combined with a brow lift or facelift.
The eyelid lift/upper blepharoplasty gallery shows 10 before-and-after cases, including one combined facelift and upper blepharoplasty case (source). The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift, rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, earlobe repair, injectables, liposuction, tummy tuck, breast surgery, hair restoration and skin treatments (source).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no price for eyelid surgery or brow lift and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage. The page notes that upper blepharoplasty may improve the field of vision for patients whose sagging upper lids block vision. A financing page lists patient lenders (financing).
Recovery
- First night: rest with the head elevated about 30 degrees.
- Cold compresses on and off for the first week; no straining or bending over that week.
- Sutures, if used, come out around the second and fifth days.
- Non-straining activities resume within two days; many patients take five to seven days off work.
- Makeup is typically allowed one week after surgery.
- Final results show in a few months, once residual swelling subsides.
