- The practice's about page states all Eyesthetica doctors, Dr. Samimi included, "are board-certified in Ophthalmology, fellowship-trained, and certified in Oculoplastic Surgery" (source).
- Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Keck School of Medicine at USC, where he teaches oculofacial plastic surgery and directs the annual Oculoplastic Suturing Course; associate preceptor for the ASOPRS-sponsored fellowship at Eyesthetica.
- Co-authored the textbook "Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery of the Upper Face" with the Eyesthetica surgeons.
- Awards listed on the site: Dean Mellinkoff Scholarship (top-five UCLA medical student), Bascom Palmer Oculoplastics Award, 1st-place Florida Society of Ophthalmology Research Symposium, and the 2014 ASOPRS Research Award for Most Outstanding Paper of the Year.
Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Removes excess skin/fat above the eyes via the practice's "Healthy Blink Blepharoplasty" technique, which preserves the blinking muscle and uses minimal incisions; the practice states it performs over 2,500 blepharoplasties a year (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Fat removed/repositioned transconjunctivally (no visible scar) for minimal excess, or via a hidden "skin pinch" incision below the lashes for moderate-to-large excess skin (source).
- Ptosis repair. Three approaches by severity: internal ("scarless"), external via a lid-crease incision, and upper eyelid (frontalis) sling surgery for severely weakened muscles (source).
- Double eyelid surgery. Converts a single eyelid to a defined double fold by excising skin/fat and sculpting a muscle strip to form the crease, hiding scars in the new fold (source).
- Brow lift. Five options by severity: endoscopic, transblepharoplasty, direct, midforehead and hairline brow lift, plus non-surgical Botox/filler for mild cases (source).
- Lower eyelid retraction repair. For ectropion or lower-lid rounding after prior blepharoplasty elsewhere; repaired with canthoplasty, often with conjunctivoplasty and hard palate grafting, sometimes mid-face elevation and fat repositioning (source).
Other procedures
Facelift, fat grafting/transfer, Botox, dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane), laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, Latisse, thyroid eye disease, ectropion/entropion, eyelid tumors, blepharospasm/hemifacial spasm treatment, artificial eye (socket) surgery, tearing problems, pediatric oculoplastic surgery, facial trauma and orbital tumors (site navigation).
Insurance and cost
The practice site has no statements about insurance coverage or procedure prices (upper/lower blepharoplasty, ptosis, double eyelid, brow lift, lower eyelid retraction).
Recovery
Across upper/lower blepharoplasty, ptosis repair and brow lift, the pattern is consistent: bruising/swelling 2-3 weeks, most patients back to work within 1 week, strenuous exercise resumes around 2 weeks, and final results show at 2-3 months. Sutures are removed at 5-7 days (upper bleph, double eyelid), 5-9 days (ptosis), or 7-10 days with staples (brow lift) (source, source, source, source, source).
