Eyelid surgery work

  • Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). The page describes removing excess skin, muscle and fat from the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both, for drooping upper lids that may impair vision, lower lid bags and lower lid wrinkles. Incisions sit in the natural eyelid crease or inside the lower lid (eyelid lift).
  • Anesthesia. Upper blepharoplasty can often be done under local anesthesia; IV or general anesthesia is used for nervous patients or combined procedures.
  • Lower lid approach. Lower blepharoplasty is often performed from inside the eyelid with no visible incision. Fat is removed or repositioned and skin removal is kept conservative to avoid changing the eyelid shape; skin is treated with laser or chemical peel, or a skin pinch or conservative excision when there is excess skin.
  • Brow lift. Elevates the forehead and brow tissues to reduce forehead lines, frown lines and brows that hood the upper lids; incisions are placed in the hairline or natural creases (brow lift).
  • Gallery. The site has a blepharoplasty before-and-after page (blepharoplasty gallery).

The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.

Other procedures

The site lists facelift, neck lift, buccal fat removal, ear surgery, breast surgery, tummy tuck, liposuction, mommy makeover and post weight loss surgery, plus injectables, lasers and skin treatments. The clinic also lists dermatologist and Mohs surgeon Dendy Engelman, MD (our providers).

Insurance and cost

  • "Shafer Clinic is out of network and does not take nor participate with any insurance" (source).
  • The site publishes no eyelid surgery prices.

Recovery

The eyelid page states only that recovery is shorter than for other surgical procedures. The brow lift page states (brow lift):

  • Swelling and bruising in the forehead and around the eyes for the first week, managed with cold compresses.
  • Back to work and light activities within seven to 10 days.
  • No strenuous activity or heavy lifting for at least three to four weeks.
