Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. The page describes repairing droopy eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle and fat. It states that sagging upper lid skin can reduce peripheral vision and that surgery can reduce or eliminate those vision problems.
- Setting. Surgery takes place at an accredited facility and takes less than an hour. It is usually done under local anesthesia with sedation; general anesthesia can also be used. The home page states the practice has an AAAHC-accredited in-office surgical suite.
- Upper and lower lids. When both are treated, the upper lids are done first, with removal of excess skin, muscle and possibly fat. For the lower lids, the surgeon redistributes fat along with muscle and sagging skin, which "can be done without making an incision on the outside of the face."
- Brow lift. Performed under general anesthesia through incisions along the hairline toward the top of the ears; excess skin is removed and the remaining skin tightened. The procedure takes up to two hours (source).
Gallery: the blepharoplasty before-and-after page holds upper, lower and combined blepharoplasty cases, each captioned "Dr. Dickerson" (source). The site has no brow lift gallery and no ptosis or canthoplasty page.
Other procedures
The practice offers facelift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, earlobe repair, buccal fat removal, forehead reduction, hair transplant, breast and body surgery, awake liposuction, weight loss and med spa services (fayplasticsurgery.com). Bradford Joseph Scanlan is the practice's second surgeon (source).
Insurance and cost
- The eyelid page gives a quote at consultation and lists financing through CareCredit, United Medical Credit and Prosper Healthcare Lending (source).
- The site publishes no eyelid surgery price and makes no insurance or Medicare statement.
Recovery
- Eyelid surgery: no bed rest; patients plan to stay home and use cold compresses on the day of surgery and the day after (source).
- Eyelid results: "may last a lifetime."
- Brow lift: recovery lasts up to two weeks and may need time off work; swelling and bruising are managed with prescribed medication (source).
