Eyelid surgery work
- Candidates. The page lists eye bags and dark circles, swollen-looking upper eyelids, excess skin and wrinkling of the lower eyelids, skin hiding the upper eyelid crease, and loose upper eyelid skin that impairs vision (blepharoplasty).
- Upper eyelids. The incision sits in the natural fold of the upper eyelid and extends slightly at the outer corner into the laugh lines. Excess skin and fat are removed. This can often be done under local anesthesia in an office setting.
- Lower eyelids. The incision is placed below the lower lashes; excess skin, muscle and fat are removed, and fat may be redistributed to smooth bulges. An incision inside the lower eyelid may be used to remove fat, and a laser may be used to tighten lower eyelid skin.
- Technique choice. Dr. Singer selects the technique by the amount of excess fat and skin, the position of the eyebrows and the condition of the eyelid muscles.
- Related treatments. Forehead lift when the brows have loosened; hyaluronic acid, fat, bleaching solution or chemical peel for pigmented dark circles; Botox, chemical peel or laser resurfacing for crow's feet.
- Gallery. The blepharoplasty gallery shows six examples (source).
Other procedures
The face procedures page lists brow lift, facelift, neck lift, eyelid lift and fat transfer, many under local anesthesia (source). The practice also performs abdominoplasty, breast augmentation and lift, body lift, liposuction and surgery after weight loss (source).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no eyelid surgery price and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery.
Recovery
- Healing is gradual; incisions take months to fade, and accurate results appear after at least a few weeks (blepharoplasty).
- Fat removal from the eyelids is described as permanent; eyelid wrinkling may return as the skin ages.
