Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Dr. Hirsch measures the skin to remove, trims the excess, then removes or repositions upper lid fat to reduce bulging. He may add fat to an upper lid that looks hollow or sunken. The incision sits in the natural lid crease.
- In-office option. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed in the Sherman Oaks office under local anesthesia.
- Lower blepharoplasty. The incision is placed either inside the lower lid, leaving no visible scar, or in the skin of the lower lid; fat and skin are removed as needed.
- Brow lift. Named on the same page and in its FAQ; the page does not describe a brow lift technique.
Gallery: the blepharoplasty gallery shows 11 cases, most of them upper eyelid blepharoplasty, plus one revision upper eyelid lift and one combined upper and lower blepharoplasty with canthopexy (source). One case shows surgical markings placing the scar in the upper eyelid crease. The site has no brow lift gallery and no page for ptosis repair or double eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site offers rhinoplasty, septoplasty, facelift and neck lift, otoplasty, earlobe repair and injectables; breast implant removal, reduction, lift, revision, augmentation, fat transfer and reconstruction, including microsurgical reconstruction; and tummy tuck, liposuction and body contouring after weight loss (source).
Insurance and cost
The eyelid page says nothing about insurance or Medicare. The price page prints no figures; it explains that the total includes a surgeon's fee, anesthesia fee and facility fee, and lists CareCredit and PatientFi financing (source).
Recovery
- Ice for the first 24 to 48 hours; swelling peaks in the first 1 to 2 days, then improves.
- Sutures out: usually after 1 week, when patients can go back to work. Desk workers may return after a week or so.
- Start walking the same night. Light activity only for the first 2 weeks, with the head elevated during sleep.
- Light exercise is usually cleared at 2 to 4 weeks; full exercise at 6 weeks.
