Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. A small incision is placed in the natural eyelid crease; skin, muscle and fat are contoured, repositioned or removed, and the incision is closed with fine stitches. Sometimes the lacrimal (tear) gland is repositioned, and a hollow upper lid crease may get fat grafting in the same operation (eyelid surgery).
  • Lower blepharoplasty. Usually done through a transconjunctival incision inside the lower lid. She occasionally uses an incision just under the lashes when skin must be removed. The lower lid fat pads are repositioned and contoured to treat bags. She commonly combines lower lid surgery with facial fat grafting and a chemical peel or laser.
  • Eyelid surgery may be combined with brow or forehead lift when a low brow contributes to lid droop.
  • Other periorbital options listed: Botox and Dysport, dermal fillers, microfat and nanofat grafting, and CO2 laser, chemical peel and Morpheus8.
  • Brow lift. Options include temporal (outer) brow lift, endoscopic brow lift, forehead shortening and hairline lowering. Anesthesia is local with oral relaxing medication, or general anesthesia (brow lift).

Galleries: an eyelid surgery gallery with 10 before-and-after cases, including upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid gallery), and a brow lift gallery (brow lift gallery). The site has no ptosis repair or double eyelid page.

Other procedures

The site lists deep plane face and neck lift, rhinoplasty, upper lip lift, otoplasty, nonsurgical newborn ear correction, facial implants, hairline lowering, injectables and women's wellness treatments (source).

Insurance and cost

  • "Please note we do not accept insurance" (financial policies).
  • The eyelid page states that when sagging upper lid skin blocks vision and causes headaches, blepharoplasty "becomes medically necessary."
  • Brow lifting is considered cosmetic and not typically covered by insurance.
  • No procedure prices are published. The practice charges a $250 non-refundable consultation fee and a $1,000 scheduling deposit.

Recovery

  • Upper lid: typically 7 to 10 days of working from home; swelling and bruising in the first week, eased with cool compresses (eyelid surgery).
  • Lower lid: one to two weeks; bruising usually resolves within two weeks. Avoid strenuous activity, contact lenses and extensive travel for a short period.
  • Most swelling resolves in two weeks; the last of it takes months (recovery tips).
  • Brow lift stitches come out after about 5 to 7 days; no heavy lifting or sports for three weeks.
