Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Incision in the natural eyelid crease; excess skin and fat removed and closed with fine sutures. Puffiness from fat alone can be corrected through an incision inside the eyelid with no visible scar (blepharoplasty page).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Incision along the lower lash line, in smile creases, or more commonly on the inside of the eyelid (transconjunctival); excess tissue, skin and fat removed, closed with absorbable stitches.
- Performed in-office under local anesthesia with IV sedation or general anesthesia; the procedure normally takes about one hour. Upper and lower can be done together, or lower done alone.
- Fat transfer. For a sunken lower eyelid, fat transfer combined with a chemical peel is offered to restore volume from lash to cheek.
- The page notes eyelid surgery does not reduce wrinkling or lift a drooping brow, so it is often combined with a brow/forehead lift and skin resurfacing.
