Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid surgery. Incisions follow the natural lid creases to reach the fat and muscle around the eyes; tissue is removed or repositioned and excess skin removed in some cases.
- Lower eyelid surgery. The incision is either directly below the lash line or inside the inner lining of the eyelid. Fat is removed or repositioned, and excess skin is trimmed or tightened by laser or chemical peel.
- Upper and lower surgery are often combined. Anesthesia is general or local with sedation (twilight).
- Eyelid surgery can be paired with brow lift, facelift or laser resurfacing. The page notes that patients with moderate to severe dry eyes may have temporary or permanent worsening of dryness.
- Brow lift. Endoscopic lift through small hairline incisions for mild sagging; coronal lift with an ear-to-ear incision for significant sagging. The page states the aim is to shape the brow with the tail higher than the inner part, not to over-lift it. The procedure takes about an hour (source).
Galleries: upper eyelid (2 patients), lower eyelid (2), upper and lower eyelid (13) and brow lift (3) (upper, lower, upper and lower, brow lift). The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or canthoplasty.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift and facelift revision, neck lift, rhinoplasty, chin and lip augmentation, facial fat grafting, breast and body surgery, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, injectables and microblading (grottingplasticsurgery.com).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no price for eyelid surgery or brow lift and does not state an insurance or Medicare policy.
Recovery
- First days: bruising, swelling and soreness; cool compresses, lubricating eye drops and pain medication.
- Activity: avoid physical exertion, lifting and rubbing the eyes during recovery.
- Swelling and bruising: subside within two weeks. Eye shape can look different for the first few weeks while the muscle recovers.
- Final result: long lasting; eyelid surgery is typically needed once and rarely needs revision.
- Brow lift: sutures out at 10 days to two weeks; most people resume regular routines within a week (source).
