  • As Chief Resident he taught residents and medical students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University School of Medicine.
  • He received a research award during residency for a study of melatonin in oxygen-starved tissues, and joined a medical mission trip to Vietnam.
  • The home page states over 15 years of surgical experience.
  • 5280 Magazine "Top Doctors" five times, including 2025 and 2026, per the bio page.

Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty treats excess or sagging upper lid skin. Depending on brow position, Dr. Schmidt may discuss adding a brow lift.
  • Lower blepharoplasty treats puffy eye bags and excess fatty deposits. The lower incision is hidden within the inner lower eyelid.
  • Incisions follow the natural creases of the eyelid. Excess tissue is removed or redistributed, and incisions are closed with layered stitches combining internal dissolvable sutures and external sutures.
  • The procedure takes one to two hours, depending on whether upper, lower or both lids are treated, and is performed in the practice's on-site operating room.
  • Patients often combine blepharoplasty with facelift or injectables. Out-of-town patients can have a first consultation by phone or webcam, and staff arrange hotel and transport.
  • Listed risks: adverse reaction to anesthesia, poor healing and infection.

Brow lift. The temporal brow lift corrects the outer third of the eyebrows. Incisions sit in the hairline, or above the brow or in forehead wrinkles for patients with receded hairlines. It takes 30 to 60 minutes alone and can be done under local or general anesthesia (source).

Galleries:

  • Eyelid lift: about 30 before-and-after cases (source).
  • Brow lift: before-and-after cases (source).

Other procedures

The site lists facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, buccal fat removal, cheek and chin procedures, ear reshaping, forehead reduction, fat grafting, hair transplantation, facial feminization surgery, scar revision, skin cancer and facial trauma reconstruction, BOTOX, dermal fillers, chemical peel and PicoSure laser (schmidtplasticsurgery.com).

Insurance and cost

  • Health insurers typically do not pay for cosmetic surgery. If upper lid skin partially obscures vision, upper blepharoplasty may be medically necessary; an eye exam and photographs may be required by the insurer (source).
  • Cost depends on upper, lower or combined surgery and added procedures such as brow lift; an estimate follows consultation.
  • The pricing page publishes no figures and directs patients to call for a general fee range (pricing).

Recovery

  • External stitches are removed at seven days.
  • Return to work: 7 to 10 days. Normal activities: 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Swelling and bruising typically subside within two weeks.
  • Avoid contact lenses until cleared, and use cold compresses.
  • Brow lift: about three weeks of recovery, a compressive head wrap for 24 hours, and most exercise after the third week (source).
