Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Removal of skin and puffy fat; some patients also need repair of deeper tendons, drooping eyebrows or eyebrow fat pads; laser technique, twilight-sleep anesthesia (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Fat removal through hidden incisions, with lid-margin tightening "by laser or traditional methods" (same page).
- Asian (double eyelid) blepharoplasty. Distinguishes a "westernizing" approach creating a higher lid fold from a "rejuvenating" approach repositioning the native fold; manages medial canthal webbing without visible incisions (source).
- Ptosis repair. Distinct from blepharoplasty; a 10-20 minute outpatient procedure under twilight-sleep anesthesia (source).
- Medical (functional) blepharoplasty. Upper-eyelid surgery framed around vision improvement, same techniques as cosmetic upper blepharoplasty (source).
- Ectropion repair. Ranges from simple massage/tightening to skin grafts or midface lifting for severe cases (ectropion).
- Entropion repair. An approximately 12-minute operation for inward-turning lashes (entropion).
- Malar/midface (SOOF) lift. 20 minutes per side under IV sedation, small incisions at the outer corner of the eyelid or hidden inside it, for lower eyelids pulled down from prior surgery or injury (source).
- Revision eyelid surgery. Corrects "other surgeons' eyelid problems": uneven eyelids, retained skin/fat, internal scar-tissue release after ptosis/blepharoplasty done elsewhere; standard fees are doubled for reoperation (source).
Other procedures
Chalazion and eyelid stye removal, xanthelasma removal, syringoma of the eyelid removal, dermal filler injections (Restylane), and BOTOX (site navigation).
Insurance and cost
Insurance covers upper eyelid surgery "if you notice the eyelids blocking your vision," documented by photograph and a visual field test meeting the insurer's criteria; the practice submits for predetermination; insurance will not cover puffy or wrinkled lower eyelids (source). The same criteria are stated for ptosis repair (source) and for Asian eyelid surgery (source).
Published prices (eyelid-lift and asian-eyelids pages, identical figures on both):
| Procedure | Price |
|---|---|
| Both upper eyelids | $6,650 |
| Both lower eyelids | $5,950 |
| Both upper and lower eyelids together | $11,850 |
| Consultation fee | $95.00 |
Prices include surgeon's fee, anesthesia and surgery center charges. Revision eyelid surgery: "the usual cosmetic surgeon's fees are doubled when correcting problems due to prior surgery performed elsewhere" (source).
