  • Co-investigator in multiple FDA studies on aesthetic injectables.
  • More than 20 years in facial plastic surgery (source).

Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Excess skin and fat are removed through an incision hidden in the natural crease. The procedure is often done in the office under local anesthesia; Dr. Vartanian uses measuring calipers for symmetry. It is often combined with skin resurfacing or facelift.
  • Ptosis and revision. The page lists treatment of droopy lids (ptosis), scarring from prior surgery and lid retraction, and eyelid reconstruction after trauma or cancer surgery.
  • Lower blepharoplasty. Fat is removed or repositioned, in most cases through internal incisions. Laser resurfacing or fillers may be added for loose skin or fine lines, and a small amount of skin may be removed.
  • Lower eyelid fat repositioning. Used to fill tear troughs and smooth hollows, including in younger patients.
  • Asian double eyelid surgery. Suture-based and incision-based methods to create a double fold or reduce fullness.
  • Brow lift. Dr. Vartanian performs his own endoscopic brow lift technique through small incisions angled behind the hairline, with Endotine forehead fixation. Surgery takes one to two hours as an outpatient (brow lift).

Gallery: the site has no separate eyelid gallery. The mixed Surgical gallery includes two upper eyelid surgery cases (case 1, case 2).

Other procedures

The practice offers rhinoplasty including ethnic, preservation, functional and revision rhinoplasty, septoplasty, facelift, mini facelift, neck lift, cheek lift, chin and facial implants, facial fat injections, otoplasty, earlobe repair, scar correction and facial reconstruction, plus Botox, fillers and lasers (source).

Insurance and cost

  • "When vision is impaired by excess upper eyelid skin, blepharoplasty may be medically necessary and eligible for insurance coverage" (eyelid surgery).
  • The eyelid and brow lift pages publish no prices. The brow lift page states results often last a number of years, which can make it more cost-effective than repeated Botox or Dysport.

Recovery

  • The eyelid page lists "minimal scarring and fast recovery" as a benefit and states no recovery times.
  • Brow lift: bruising and swelling fade over the following days; most patients return to normal daily activities within one week; strenuous activity is avoided for 3-4 weeks (brow lift).
