Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. Incision along the natural crease; fat repositioning, muscle/tissue tightening or excess skin removal (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Transconjunctival (hidden, behind the lower eyelid) or subciliary (external, below the lash line) incision to remove excess skin; procedure also used for orbital fat repositioning.
- Revision direct festoon excision, shown treating a lower eyelid "double bubble" that persisted after initial upper/lower blepharoplasty.
- Ptosis repair. The page describes causes, symptoms and diagnosis of upper-eyelid ptosis, and states blepharoplasty is performed when ptosis obstructs vision (source).
- Double eyelid surgery (Asian eyelid surgery). Incisional approach (trimming skin and sometimes muscle, with fat removal) is typical for double-eyelid surgery; transconjunctival approach possible for lower-eyelid work; a non-incisional, permanent-suture method is used occasionally (source). New crease position stabilizes at about 4-6 weeks; swelling fully subsides by about 6 months.
- Blepharoplasty can be combined with a browlift (traditional or endoscopic).
