Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid surgery. Removes excess, sagging skin above the eyes, including skin that blocks peripheral vision. Incisions sit in the natural eyelid crease. Upper lid surgery alone is typically done with local numbing and light oral sedation.
- Lower eyelid surgery. Dr. Frankel does most lower lid surgery through incisions on the inside of the eyelid, without skin incisions, and repositions or trims fat pads to smooth the lid-cheek transition.
- Fat transposition. One lower lid technique uses a small bolster under surgical tape, removed at three to five days.
- Blepharoplasty is outpatient under local anesthesia or twilight sedation and averages one to two hours.
- The FAQ states eyelid surgery can be combined with ptosis repair for drooping lids caused by weak levator muscles, and is often paired with brow lift or facelift.
- Brow lift. The site names direct, indirect, temporal and endoscopic approaches; the endoscopic lift uses hidden incisions behind the hairline and a small camera. A brow lift takes one to two hours with local or deep twilight anesthesia (source).
Galleries: a blepharoplasty gallery spread across five pages and a brow lift gallery (source, source).
Other procedures
The site lists facelift (deep plane, preservation, mini and revision), neck lift, rhinoplasty including functional and revision, forehead shortening, chin and cheek augmentation, fat transfer, lip lift, ear surgery, facial reconstruction, injectables, lasers and menopause hormone therapy (clevelandfacialplastics.com).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no price for eyelid surgery or brow lift and does not state an insurance or Medicare policy for eyelid surgery.
Recovery
- Back to work: within a week; the FAQ gives 7 to 10 days for non-strenuous work.
- Normal activities: after about 10 days.
- Sutures: remaining skin sutures removed at the 6 to 7 day visit.
- Bruising: can be covered with makeup.
- Follow-up visits: one, three and six months after surgery.
- Final result: typically at about six months; results typically last 5 to 10 years or more.
- Brow lift: recovery about one to two weeks; results final in about four months (source).
