Source for all: source
Opened his Auburn practice in 2000; the practice's page states over 25 years of post-residency experience with that procedure specifically.
Eyelid surgery work
All from source:
- Upper blepharoplasty. Removes skin and fat from the upper eyelid for patients with loose or droopy lids, sometimes impairing vision; a thin stitch closes the incision, hidden in the natural crease.
- Lower blepharoplasty. Removes excess lower-lid fat and tightens lower-lid skin to reduce baggy, puffy lower eyelids; incision placed along the lash line and smile creases.
- Brow lift. Coronal incision about 1 inch behind the hairline for significant forehead skin laxity and brow descent, or alternative hairline, above-eyebrow or temporal incisions; selected forehead muscles are removed to reduce wrinkling, with the eyebrows elevated and excess skin trimmed (source).
Other procedures
The site also lists facelift, mini facelift, laser resurfacing, ear surgery, rhinoplasty, and breast and body procedures (freedplasticsurgery.com).
Insurance and cost
No insurance or Medicare statement for eyelid surgery is published. The practice's page states cost "varies based on the surgeon, their location, and the type of facility," listing what is typically included (Dr. Freed's professional fee, anesthesia, operating room cost, pre/post/follow-up appointments, complimentary makeup application), without a numeric price.
Recovery
All from source:
- Showering. Permitted 24 hours after an eyelid procedure.
- Swelling. Sleep slightly elevated on the back for at least the first 3 nights.
- Sutures out. Removed 5 to 7 days after surgery; suture-line massage with eye cream begins at 2 weeks.
- Bruising. Eyelids feel tight and significant bruising often occurs, resolving within two weeks.
- Exercise. Avoid vigorous exercise and lifting over 20 lbs for the first two weeks.
