Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. Outpatient, under anesthesia or sedation; one to three hours depending on upper, lower or both (source).
- Upper blepharoplasty. Incision along the upper eyelid crease; fat is removed or repositioned, muscle tightened and excess skin removed (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Either an incision below the lower lash line to remove skin or a transconjunctival incision inside the lower eyelid; both allow fat to be rearranged or removed (source).
- Ptosis repair. Outpatient, sedation with local anesthesia. Mild cases: the levator muscle is tightened through an incision in the eyelid crease or below the eyelid. Moderate to severe cases: frontalis suspension, attaching a suture to the forehead muscle (source). The FAQ states ptosis can be corrected at the same time as blepharoplasty.
- Brow lift. Endoscopic brow lift for low to medium hairlines, or temporal brow lift that keeps the hairline in place (browlift).

Insurance and cost
- Blepharoplasty cost depends on the surgeon, anesthesia and whether upper, lower or both eyelids are treated. "The general range is about $4,000 to $10,000" (source).
- The eyelid pages make no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage.
Recovery
- Eyelid surgery alone: about one week of downtime; ice packs and head elevation for swelling (source).
- Upper blepharoplasty: one to two weeks off work; an idea of results at about two weeks, final results several weeks later (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty: one to two weeks off work; swelling and redness mostly gone within a week or two.
- Ptosis repair: no driving for a few days; lubricating ointment; final results after several months.
