Eyelid surgery work
The blepharoplasty page describes removal of fat and excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids:
- Dr. Capella marks the incisions along the natural skin creases before sedation. Surgery is done under intravenous sedation with local anesthetic, using fine electrocautery, and the skin is closed with fine sutures.
- When the lower eyelid is very lax, he may perform a lateral canthoplasty or canthopexy, tightening the lid to the bone of the eye socket near the outer corner to prevent ectropion.
- For lower blepharoplasty, the underlying fat layer is redistributed to reduce puffiness and fill depressions.
- Blepharoplasty is often combined with facelift or brow lift and with laser or chemical resurfacing.
- The consultation includes a vision exam and sometimes a tear function test; he refers to a board-certified ophthalmologist when indicated.
Brow lift. The brow lift page describes a traditional open approach through a scalp incision and an endoscopic forehead lift through several small scalp incisions. The procedure takes about an hour.
Galleries. The blepharoplasty gallery shows nine patient cases. One case shows a 40-year-old woman three months after upper and lower lid blepharoplasty with brow, face and neck lift (case 01). The brow lift gallery shows four cases.
Other procedures
The site's main focus is body contouring after weight loss: body lift, arm lift, thigh lift, tummy tuck, buttock lift and liposuction, including patients after GLP-1 medications. It also offers facelift, breast surgery, gynecomastia surgery and Botox (bio).
Insurance and cost
The site publishes no eyelid prices and makes no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage. Consultations are complimentary; a deposit reserves a surgery date, the fee is given in writing at consultation, and the balance is due two weeks before surgery. Financing is available through CareCredit (financing).
Recovery
From the blepharoplasty page:
- First 24 hours: continuous ice-cold compresses; sleep propped up to reduce swelling.
- Sutures: some may be removed one week after surgery.
- Swelling and bruising: usually ten to 14 days; makeup after about one week.
- Contact lenses: avoid for about a week.
- Exercise: avoid bending, lifting and sports for about three weeks.
- Back to work: most people return in a week.
- Final result: six weeks to three months to look completely natural; scars may stay slightly pink for about six months.
