Eyelid surgery work
The oculoplastic/orbital surgery page lists, among Dr. Lane's specialties, droopy eyelid repair (ptosis, pseudoptosis, congenital ptosis), eyelid malposition repair (ectropion, entropion, lid retraction), eyelid reconstruction after injury or tumor removal, upper and lower eyelid lift (blepharoplasty), and brow lift (source).
The cosmetic blepharoplasty page describes the procedure as removing excess skin, bulging fat and/or lax muscle from the upper or lower lids, and states it is "deemed not medically necessary" when performed for appearance alone (source). Upper lid incisions are hidden in the natural eyelid crease, with the muscle that raises a droopy lid tightened if needed. Lower lid fat can be removed or repositioned through an incision on the inner surface of the lid, described on the page as transconjunctival blepharoplasty; where there is excess lower-lid skin, an incision below the lashes is used instead. The practice site has no before-and-after photo gallery.
Other procedures
The practice, a multi-doctor ophthalmology group, also offers cataract surgery, laser vision correction, corneal surgery and glaucoma surgery through its other physicians, and non-surgical cosmetics (botulinum toxin injections, dermal fillers, ProNox nitrous oxide for pain/anxiety relief) (cosmetics).
Insurance and cost
The oculoplastic/orbital surgery page states "treatment for many of these conditions is covered by insurance," referring to functional conditions such as ptosis, eyelid malposition and reconstruction. Cosmetic blepharoplasty is described as not medically necessary. No dollar price figures are published; CareCredit financing is offered for cosmetic procedures.
