Eyelid surgery work
The practice's eyelid page describes these procedures (source):
- Upper eyelids. An incision in the natural crease above the lashes allows removal of excess skin and fat and redefinition of the fold.
- Lower eyelids. For fat with little or no extra skin, a transconjunctival incision inside the eyelid, with laser resurfacing of the skin if needed. For excess skin, a subciliary incision just below the lash line, with the skin elevated and redraped. For lid laxity, a canthopexy.
- The page states the current goal is to preserve fat rather than remove it aggressively.
- Tear trough and midface. Options listed are a tear trough implant, fat injection, fat transposition from the lid to the tear trough, and a midface lift through an incision extending past the corner of the eye.
- Surgery is outpatient, under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.
- Brow lift. The brow lift page describes endoscopic, coronal and anterior hairline techniques, usually done as an outpatient under general anesthesia (source).
Galleries: the blepharoplasty gallery shows upper, lower and combined eyelid cases, including lower lid blepharoplasty with fat transposition to the tear trough (source); a brow lift gallery is also posted (source). Cases carry case codes and no surgeon names. The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
Dr. Huang's bio describes breast and body aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction after mastectomy. The practice also offers facelift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, body contouring, post-weight-loss surgery and non-surgical treatments (plasticsurgerynow.com).
Insurance and cost
- The site makes no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery.
- Eyelid surgery "typically ranges from $7,500 to $8,500 for bilateral upper or lower eyelids," including estimated anesthesia and facility fees (source).
- Brow lift typically ranges from $9,000 to $10,000, including estimated anesthesia and facility fees (source).
Recovery
- Activity: limited for two weeks, then resumed gradually, with a return to normal at about three to four weeks.
- Swelling and bruising: typically resolve over one to two weeks. A midface lift delays recovery slightly.
- Sensation: eyelid skin is numb for months; sensation returns slowly.
- Brow lift sutures and staples are removed five to nine days after surgery (source).
