Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid surgery. Thin incision in the natural eyelid crease; tightens muscle and removes excess skin and fat for a more open, awake appearance.
- Lower eyelid surgery. Incision below the eyelashes or below the inside edge of the eyelid; removes excess skin and fat to correct puffy bags, with muscle tightening or lift as needed.
- Procedure performed in the practice's private surgery suite under local or general anesthesia, about 2 to 3 hours for both eyes. Either approach can be combined with a forehead lift or facelift.
All from source.
- Forehead/brow lift. Small hairline incision on each side; skin lifted off the underlying muscle to the tail of the brow, then lifted and resecured to the muscle (source).
Other procedures
The site also lists facelift, neck lift with liposuction, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, total facial rejuvenation, and breast and body procedures (drhasen.com).
Insurance and cost
No insurance or Medicare statement for eyelid surgery is published. The pricing page lists "Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty): $6,500 to $12,000," stated to include pre- and post-operative visits, surgeon's fees, anesthesia and operating-room charges, excluding prescriptions, lab tests and compression garments (source). No separate brow-lift price is listed.
Recovery
All from source:
- Swelling. Mild to moderate for 1 week, rapidly disappearing thereafter.
- Bruising. Minimal, at its maximum at 2 days, disappears rapidly by 7 to 10 days.
- Back to work. About 3 to 4 days away from work; makeup can be applied and public appearance is comfortable at that time.
- Sutures out. Some stitches removed at 4 days, the rest between 7 and 10 days.
- Exercise. Resume many activities within the first week, most by at least 3 weeks.
- Final result. Natural, presentable appearance in the first week, continuing to improve over the next 3 to 6 months.
