Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. An incision along the natural eyelid crease removes excess skin and sometimes muscle and fat. Most cases are done under local anesthesia in about one hour; cases needing fat removal or contouring use general anesthesia (source).
- Lower blepharoplasty. Fat is removed or repositioned and skin tightened. Incisions are placed below the lower lash line, or inside the lower lid with a transconjunctival approach for patients who mainly have bulging fat pads.
- The full procedure takes one to two hours under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation, as an outpatient.
- Brow lift. Performed endoscopically through several half-inch to one-inch incisions across the hairline, with the brow secured by sutures or absorbable fixation devices; about 1 to 1.5 hours (source).
