Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Incisions follow the natural creases of the upper eyelid. Excess skin and small pockets of fat are removed, loose muscle is trimmed and tightened, and the incisions are sutured. Anesthesia is local or general, depending on the procedures performed (upper eyelid surgery).
  • The upper eyelid page lists ptosis correction and ectropion or entropion repair as types of eyelid surgery, and notes ptosis requires a different procedure from blepharoplasty.
  • Lower blepharoplasty. Performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia at a Chicago surgical center. Incisions are placed just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid, and fat is removed or repositioned (lower eyelid surgery).
  • Manual lymphatic drainage massage is used after each procedure to reduce swelling.
  • Upper eyelid surgery is commonly combined with lower eyelid surgery, brow lift or injectables.

The eyelid gallery holds two cases and the brow lift gallery holds one.

Other procedures

The site offers a non-surgical brow lift with injectables and has no surgical brow lift page. Other procedures are facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, breast and body surgery, and lasers.

Insurance and cost

  • Lower blepharoplasty is considered cosmetic and generally not covered by insurance; exceptions may apply when excess skin or fat impairs vision or causes functional problems (lower eyelid surgery).
  • Lower blepharoplasty: "Pricing starts at $4,500.00."
  • The upper eyelid page publishes no price.

Recovery

  • Swelling subsides within one to several weeks; bruising within one to one-and-a-half weeks.
  • Sutures: removed at a checkup after seven days.
  • Contact lenses and eye makeup: avoided for two weeks.
  • Activity: most non-aerobic activities within one week; normal routine in two weeks.
