Eyelid surgery work

MD Plastic Surgery is a group practice with three surgeons: Bryan Gawley, Jennifer Geoghegan and Lawrence Shaw. The eyelid page lists all three as the practice's surgeons and does not assign eyelid surgery to one of them (blepharoplasty).

  • Upper lid. The page describes removing an ellipse of skin and sometimes excess fat through an incision in the natural crease of the eyelid. It notes that drooping upper lids can come from a heavy brow, so results are sometimes improved by combining upper eyelid surgery with a forehead lift.
  • Lower lid. The practice addresses bags, dark circles and loose skin by removing excess skin, removing or repositioning fat, and tightening the muscles if needed. Fat repositioning is described as removing puffiness and filling hollows at the same time; fat grafting can add fat where needed.
  • Lower eyelid surgery can be combined with laser skin resurfacing, and eyelid surgery with Botox for crow's feet.
  • The page states fat removal is permanent and the results are long-lasting, though surgery does not stop aging.
  • Brow lift. Three types are offered: a traditional (coronal) lift with a longer scar hidden in the hairline, for patients with more excess tissue; an endoscopic lift through tiny incisions with a miniature camera, described as appropriate for most patients; and a temporal (lateral) lift for the outer brow and upper lids (source).

The blepharoplasty gallery spans four pages of before-and-after cases; individual cases do not name the operating surgeon (source). The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery or canthoplasty.

Other procedures

Dr. Shaw's page lists multi-plane facelift with stem cell and PRP-enriched fat transfer, primary and revision breast surgery with cohesive implants and GalaFLEX support, and mommy makeover combining breast lift, breast reduction and tummy tuck (source).

Insurance and cost

The site publishes no price for eyelid surgery or brow lift and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage. A financing page is available (financing).
