Eyelid surgery work

  • Upper blepharoplasty. Dr. Brostrom makes an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, then removes and repositions excess skin and fat. The page notes that a brow lift is often combined with upper eyelid surgery when the brow has dropped (source).
  • Lower blepharoplasty. Usually performed with IV sedation in about two hours. She uses the transconjunctival method, with the incision inside the eyelid, for fat puffiness with minimal skin laxity. For skin excess and muscle sagging she adds a subciliary incision below the lash line to remove skin and tighten muscle (source).
  • Quad blepharoplasty. Upper and lower lids treated together; most eyelid lifts take one to two hours (blepharoplasty).
  • The site has a separate blepharoplasty page for men (source).
  • Brow lift. Coronal, endoscopic and temporal techniques are named; the practice prefers a limited-incision technique with small incisions near or behind the hairline (browlift).
  • Galleries. The "Brostrom, MD Gallery" includes a blepharoplasty section (eyelid gallery) and a brow lift section (brow lift gallery).

The site has no separate page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.

Other procedures

The site lists facelift, deep plane facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, facial implants, buccal fat removal, lip lift and facial fat grafting; breast and body surgery; gender-affirming surgery; NeoGraft hair transplant; and injectables and laser treatments (source).

Insurance and cost

  • Eyelid lift cost depends on the procedure type and skin condition; the practice gives an all-inclusive quote (blepharoplasty).
  • Dr. Brostrom provides a price estimate at consultation for upper eyelid surgery (source).
  • Financing: CareCredit, ALPHAEON CREDIT and Cherry (financing).
  • The site publishes no eyelid surgery prices and makes no statement on insurance or Medicare coverage.

Recovery

  • Upper lid: about one week to recover; most patients return to work after one week; high-intensity activity is held for about one month (source).
  • Lower lid: swelling and bruising subside within one to two weeks; sutures come out one week after surgery; most patients return to work in about ten to fourteen days (source).
  • Exercise: no strenuous activity or intense exercise for four to six weeks; sleep with the head elevated (blepharoplasty).
