Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid. Incision within the natural eyelid crease; excess skin removed or redistributed (source).
- Lower eyelid. Fat grafted, reduced or redistributed through a lower-eyelid incision to improve hollows; an incision at or below the lash line addresses sagging skin and puffiness (same page).
- Lateral canthal incision. Used to address the downturned, "sad eye" appearance (same page).
- Performed under light sedation with local anesthesia; incisions are designed to hide in natural creases (same page).
- Brow lift. Open technique (forehead incision, muscle release, skin removal) or endoscopic technique (small scalp incisions with a camera-tipped endoscope); choice depends on the patient's features and goals (source).
Other procedures
The practice also offers facelift, neck lift, lip lift, otoplasty, body contouring, breast surgery and non-surgical skin treatments (partingtonps.com).
Insurance and cost
No insurance or Medicare statement specific to eyelid surgery is published. The brow lift FAQ states: "As an elective cosmetic procedure, insurance usually doesn't cover the costs of a brow lift" (source). No eyelid surgery price is published.
Recovery
- Eyelid lift. Redness, swelling and tenderness are normal after anesthesia wears off; vision is unclear for about 24 hours; full recovery generally takes several weeks (source).
- Brow lift. Bruising, swelling and numbness may occur but should resolve within a week; full results are seen around six months after surgery (source).
