Eyelid surgery work
- Upper blepharoplasty. An office procedure of about 30 minutes. Through incisions in the natural crease, Dr. Boggess removes sagging skin, muscle and protruding fat, then closes with fine sutures.
- Lower blepharoplasty. An office procedure of about 45 minutes. When only fat removal is needed, the incision is inside the eyelid; when skin and muscle must be removed, the incision is just below the lash line.
- Quad blepharoplasty. Upper and lower lids done in one surgery and one recovery.
- Anesthesia. Blepharoplasty is done with local anesthesia, with or without light sedation, in an accredited office surgical suite.
- Eyelid surgery is often combined with the practice's Reflection Lift facelift and laser skin resurfacing.
- Brow lift. The brow page describes endoscopic (4 or 5 small incisions behind the hairline), coronal, hairline, mid-forehead crease and lateral (temporal) brow lifts (source).
- Browpexy. The outer brow is lifted through the upper eyelid crease incision with a tacking suture, usually with upper blepharoplasty, avoiding a scalp or forehead incision.
Galleries: separate before-and-after galleries for upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, brow lift and browpexy (source, source, source, browpexy). Many eyelid cases on the eyelid page combine blepharoplasty with the Reflection Lift, fat transfer and CO2 laser resurfacing. The site has no page for ptosis repair or double eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site offers the Reflection Lift facelift, mini facelift, chin augmentation, fat transfer, laser skin resurfacing and ZO Skin Health products (youthfulreflections.com).
Insurance and cost
- The site publishes no price. It states upper blepharoplasty is generally at the lower end of the price range and lower blepharoplasty typically costs more, and that office surgery under local anesthesia avoids hospital and general anesthesia fees (source).
- Financing is offered through CareCredit and ALPHAEON Credit.
- The site does not state an insurance or Medicare policy for eyelid surgery.
Recovery
- Sutures: removed in about 5 to 7 days.
- Back to work: most people return to work and normal activities within 1 week.
- Bruising, swelling and tightness: typically resolve within 1 to 2 weeks.
- Contact lenses: wear glasses for the first 2 to 3 weeks.
- Final result: 4 to 6 weeks. Upper lid results typically last 5 to 7 years; lower lid results in most cases last indefinitely.
- Brow lift: most patients return to normal activities within a week (source).
