Eyelid surgery work

  • Laser-assisted eyelid surgery. Dr. Kulick uses a laser beam as a light scalpel to reduce bleeding, swelling and bruising. Some fat and skin are removed. The upper lid incision is placed in the natural contour of the upper eyelid. Lower eyelid surgery removes excess skin with fat repositioning, through an incision under the lower lashes (eyelid surgery).
  • Patients may have upper lids, lower lids or both. The page states many patients have a brow lift at the same time, and that some patients with extra upper lid skin would benefit from a brow lift rather than more skin removal.
  • Endoscopic brow lift. Two to three small incisions in the scalp behind the hairline; with the endoscope he modifies the muscles to set brow position without over-correction, and no scalp or hair is removed. The page compares this with the open coronal approach, an ear-to-ear incision. The procedure most often done with it is blepharoplasty (endoscopic brow lift).

Galleries: the blepharoplasty gallery holds seven cases with captions, including laser-assisted lower eyelid blepharoplasty. The endoscopic brow lift gallery holds five cases, several combined with upper and lower blepharoplasty.

The site has no page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.

Other procedures

The site offers laser-assisted vertical facelift, nose surgery, ear surgery, chin implants, breast surgery, liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, photorejuvenation, fillers, lip augmentation and scar revision (source).

Insurance and cost

The site publishes no prices and makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery. The FAQ page directs patients to call the office or book a consultation (FAQs).

Recovery

  • Avoid reading, watching TV or using a computer for about one to two weeks.
  • Many patients return to work and essential social activities between one and two weeks after surgery.
  • Light exercise may be possible soon after that.
  • Brow lift: cold packs on the forehead and eyes for the first few days, and sleeping with the head elevated for the first week (endoscopic brow lift).
