Eyelid surgery work
- Upper eyelid surgery. Upper eyelid surgery alone is most often performed in the office under local anesthesia with oral sedation, without an operating room. Dr. Schwartz makes an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, removes or repositions fat and removes excess skin (source).
- Lower eyelid surgery. The incision is placed either below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid; fat is removed and repositioned and excess skin removed.
- Resurfacing. In many cases, Dr. Schwartz combines Sciton TRL resurfacing of the lower eyelid with the eyelid surgery for surface wrinkles.
- The page notes that upper eyelid skin can sit on the eyeball and impair vision, and that removing the excess skin can restore it.
- Brow lift. Performed under general anesthesia given by a board-certified anesthesiologist. Most brow lifts are done through a limited or temporal incision near or in the hairline; the corrugator muscles can be treated through a separate incision in the upper eyelid crease; some patients need a traditional or endoscopic approach (source).
