Eyelid surgery work

  • Blepharoplasty. Surgery on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both, performed under local anesthesia with sedation; general anesthesia may be used for anxious patients. Operating time is 45 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Upper eyelid. The incision is made along the natural crease. Fat deposits may be repositioned, muscle and tissue tightened, or excess skin removed.
  • Lower eyelid. The incision is made just below the lash line to remove excess skin.
  • Incisions are closed with sutures and usually wrapped in gauze. Lubricating ointment and cold compresses may be recommended afterward.
  • Candidates: people in good overall health who do not smoke and have no serious eye conditions, with loose skin or puffy bags around the eyes.
  • Listed risks: bleeding, infection, dry eyes, skin discoloration and inability to fully close the eyes.
  • Brow lift. Two approaches are described: a traditional brow lift through a coronal incision behind the hairline, and an endoscopic brow lift through several small incisions behind the hairline. Either may be combined with eyelid surgery or a facelift. The procedure takes one to two hours under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia (browlift).
  • Gallery. The site's face gallery holds neck lift cases only; it has no eyelid or brow lift before-and-after page (face procedures gallery).

The site has no separate page for ptosis repair, double eyelid surgery, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.
