- The site does not state a board certification.
- The about page states a track record in cosmetic surgery for the last 24 years and offers a free private cosmetic consultation.
Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. The eyelid page describes removing excess skin and bags around the eyes. It states the procedure will not remove all creases, because removing all of them would put excess tension on the eyelids (source).
- Anesthesia. Patients have the option of intravenous sedation or general anesthesia; Dr. Spindel recommends the choice.
- Upper eyelid. An incision in the upper lid crease allows fat repositioning, muscle tightening and removal of excess skin, and corrects droopy upper lid conditions.
- Lower eyelid. An incision just below the lower lash line removes excess lower lid skin. A transconjunctival incision, hidden inside the lower lid, is an alternate technique to redistribute or remove excess fat.
- Closure. Removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives or surgical tape.
- Results. Results appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside.
The practice site has no eyelid or brow before-and-after gallery; the only linked before-and-after page is for breast augmentation. The site has no page for brow lift, ptosis repair, canthoplasty or revision eyelid surgery.
Other procedures
The site lists facelift and otoplasty, breast surgery and reconstruction, body lift, brachioplasty, liposuction, tummy tuck, carpal tunnel surgery, skin cancer and mole removal, scar revision, Botox and cosmetic dermatology (drmichaelspindel.com).
Insurance and cost
- The site makes no statement about insurance or Medicare coverage for eyelid surgery and publishes no prices.
- Financing is offered through Med Loan Finance (amounts from $500 to $100,000) and United Medical Credit (financing).
Recovery
- Eyelid surgery patients can usually get around independently by the second day.
- With sunglasses, patients may feel comfortable going to the store by day 3 to 4.
- With makeup, patients could return to work by 5 to 7 days.
- For all operations, a slow walking routine starts on the second day after surgery; vigorous activity is not allowed for the first 2 weeks; weight lifting and contact sports are allowed at 1 month in most cases.
