- Board certification as printed: "Plastic Surgery: American Board of Plastic Surgery."
- Member, American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
- The bio lists breast augmentation, lift and reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, facelift and blepharoplasty within his practice, over more than two decades.
Eyelid surgery work
- Blepharoplasty. Removal of excess skin, removal or repositioning of fat and often tightening of the lower lid muscle. Day surgery lasting one to two and a half hours. Upper lid surgery can be done under local anesthesia with sedation; the page states lower lid surgery is generally done most safely under general anesthesia (blepharoplasty).
- Upper blepharoplasty. An incision in the natural crease to remove redundant skin and bulging fat; it can improve peripheral vision in patients with severe excess skin.
- Lower blepharoplasty. An incision inside the lid (transconjunctival, scarless) and an incision below the lash line. The procedure reduces or repositions fat, blends the lid into the cheek, tightens the muscle and removes skin; 30 to 60 minutes (source).
- Brow lift. Small incisions in the scalp, often along the hairline. A temporal brow lift raises the outer brow more than the inner brow. Sedation with local anesthesia or general anesthesia. It can be combined with upper blepharoplasty or facelift (source).
- The site also has a male blepharoplasty page (source).
Galleries credited to Dr. Tantillo:
- A 48-year-old woman treated for lower lid bags by removal of excess fat only (case 03).
- A 55-year-old woman whose heavy upper lids impaired her vision; skin and fat removed from the upper lids only (case 04).
- A 64-year-old woman with upper and lower blepharoplasty (case 07).
Three other gallery cases credit Christopher Lee, MD, the practice's second surgeon.
Other procedures
The practice offers breast augmentation, lift and reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, facelift and other facial rejuvenation surgery, plus non-surgical treatments and skin care products (source).
Insurance and cost
- The eyelid pages make no statement about insurance or Medicare.
- No prices are published. Cost depends on upper, lower or combined surgery, the complexity of the plan and the anesthesia used (blepharoplasty).
- Financing: Cherry, PatientFi and a credit-card plan (source).
Recovery
- Ointment and cool compresses after surgery; head elevated and compresses for 48 to 72 hours.
- Bruising fades within seven to ten days; swelling improves within two to three weeks.
- Sutures out within a week. Most patients limit social activity for 7 to 10 days and return to non-strenuous work in 7 to 10 days.
- Strenuous activity: avoid for four weeks (an FAQ on the same page says three weeks).
- Results last at least five to seven years for most patients.
- Brow lift: ten to fourteen days out of the public eye; no strenuous activity for four weeks (source).
